    Default Identify plant/flower

Can anyone please identify this cute little plant that seems to grow from barren rock? Found in Montagu, Klein Karoo.

    Thanks, I've mailed the pics.

Maybe the moderators can assist. I've used photobucket as advised.

Hyodanche sanguinea - snail flower, katnael, jakkalskos to name a few names. The locals said that it is edible, some sort of sweet but I have tried and it tastes no good.

Just a small spelling error, should be hyobanche, with a b not a d. It is a parasitic herb of which there are at least 2 species found in South Africa.

    Sharp Frank, very sharp.

But it also goes to show that most hunters/gun owners are also very much in touch with their natural environment. Most of them even conservationists.

But not to be confused with armchair-conservationists.
