So by my reconing you payd about R65/kg for processing on your 34kg carcass, what did the animal cost?

I know that the reason we hunt is to have an enjoyable time in nature, but let's assume that you added another R50 per kilo for that, the cost of R115 per kilo is getting to high for me and that still includes bones.

I picked u some c-gade pichanya for R80 per kilo and for now I may just be sticking with that.

On a recent hunt, the processing costs were as follows: ( 1x Rooihartebees cow, 5x springbok, total combined dressed carcass weights, with skin on, 179kg)

    Processing:

    Prime cuts(steaks) R20/kg
    Mince(including brisket fat)R25/kg
"Droeewors" (Including sheeps tail fat, spices and casings, undried) R80/kg
    Biltong (Spices/vinegar etc, undried) R25/kg
"Braai wors" ( Including brisket fat, spices, casings) R60/kg
Hamburger patties ( Brisket fat, spices, polystyrene burger packaging ) R60/kg

"Base" meat price was R104/kg (useable meat/total cost of animals), so add R104 to processing for each type of product.

    Total costs:

    Prime cuts(steaks) R124
    Mince(including brisket fat)R129/kg
"Droeewors" (Including sheeps tail fat, spices and casings, undried) R184/kg
    Biltong (Spices/vinegar etc, undried) R129/kg
"Braai wors" ( Including brisket fat, spices, casings) R164/kg

R100/kg for fat? R110/kg for beef?

How many kg's of patties did you get? 1/2kg herbs seems excessive.

    Which butchery is this?
