    Default Federal HST in 9x19

    Guys

Safari Outdoor has loads of this ammo in 147 gn, does anyone know where I can get 124 gn?

    Thanks
    Russell

Any reason for wanting 124 over 147?

They definitely had 147 and 124gn a while ago at Rivonia Safari
If your branch doesn't have maybe call another to see if they have stock

I believe the shorter barrel micro compacts struggle to get enough velocity to properly expand the 147 gn thus the lighter 124 gn that is travelling faster has a better chance of expansion

I would much rather use the 147gr in a short barrel.

Have a look at this data, they tested both 124 and 147, exact same expansion from both.
However the 147 will be a "softer" shooter out of a shorter barrel.

I once fired Winchester Ranger T 127 +P+ out of my Glock 43, Might as well have thrown a flash bang without letting go...

Follow up shots on target were impossible, jumped like a bitch, 147 Gn Naturally asperated were good though.

The supercharged shit fired very very well through my Glock 34 with the long barrel, but for a short barrel I would not recommend anything under 147 Gn, bullet expansion means jack shit when you cant hit the target consecutively due to recoil

I'm completely unconvinced that additional plusses and Ps are beneficial in an SD load. Even the mad hottest 9mmP is a pretty pathetic thing and unless you put them in or at least very near to the right place all the baddy will spring is a leak. As per Steven001 above, much better to have something that you can shoot well.
