Default Savage Recon 11 Mag seating help Please

    Good day

New to AR rifles. Shot a LM6 for years.

When changing magazines on the Savage I cannot seat the magazine without hitting it with the palm of my hand.
Magpul P mag with 30 rounds in. I have several magazines and they are all the same.

If I insert the magazine into the magwell and slam it home, no chance it will engage. I have to hold the rifle near vertical and wack the base of the magazine with my palm.
My question is, is this normal?

    Kind regards
    Ryan

Try downloading to 29 rounds in the mag.

Some mags and guns are very tight when the mag is full.

Download the mag by 2 rounds and it will fit. Well known issue with some AR's.

Do you have Magpul gen2 or gen3 mags? Can be the over insert stop on the gen3 and your FA does not gel.
