Default Pic of Range Register & POPI Act

Went to the range on Saturday and when I wanted to take a pic of the range register to submit as proof of a sport shooting activity, the lady behind the counter nearly shat herself and started shouting something about the POPI act and how it is illegal to take a pic of the register due to all the info on it.

    What are your thoughts?

Pretty sure she's right. Rather just get them to stamp and sign a target. Even if you aren't with natshoot or similar that should more than suffice for evidence of an activity.

Yep, she's right. When the range collects this personal info they should automatically be liable to protect any of this information being shared with the public.
I agree with oafpatroll, that's the best option as proof of shoot.

I sign the register knowing people need a Pic of it for proof of activity.

Putting your info in a relatively public place waivers the right to POPI doesn't it?

With Natshoot I have always registered activities with the "Till slip" of the range fees with my name on it. Or a signed target. Myself don't want photos of a register taken on a free for all basis where my details have been recorded. If your orginization want a photo, get another orginization.

If I add my name or details anywhere in public, zero effort is put into legibility.

She is right, but tell the aunty she has already breached the POPI act by making the other people information available to you, pic or not.

This. I channel my inner doctor when that sort of thing comes up.

Piece of a4 paper. Fold as required. Put over entries between yours and the stuff at the top of the page. Take picture. Done.
