I had a quick Google around and was surprised not to come across a reference e to anything similar. Found that quite strange. Wonder if it could have been a reaction to a solvent or lubricant on the guns.

In all my new model cases the foam still looks 100%. But I don't store the pistols in them. The oil you used maybe "dissolved" the foam? I have a old drill case where I can fit 3 handguns in and I used a piece of egg crate foam in it. It looks quite original.

Use parts and brake cleaner on the Glocks and then give them a good oil.

I think i used Methylated spirits on the cases i had to remove the goo and the glue from and then a silicone spray to polish the cases up again, but don't spray the inside of the case, otherwise any new glue won't stick.

I got some egg box mattress foam and lined the boxes with that again. I gave up trying to find a replacement foam similar to the original. I glued the foam to the box with Wurth adhesive spray.

At first I thought is may have been gun oil that i applied to the guns that triggered the rection but it is also the case on my G21 which was never ever oiled from brand new and a further two cases were empty as I carried a G17 and G26 in another case.

I am wondering if it is a fungus.

Turpentine. Not Thinners, Not Benzine and not Acetone.

Something that takes longer but also dissolves sticky stuff is MrMin
