Thread: Biltong Maker

    Default Biltong Maker

I think this is the right section....

Does anyone use those plastic drum biltong makers. We used a cardboard box and 60 watt bulb when we were kids, is the plastic one better? What happens when there is no bulbs left?

there is a biltong maker which one can buy at a makro or Game.

It takes about 6 kilos of wet meat and the Biltong is ready on about 3 to 5 days

    they retail for 299.

A 25u network cabinet works wonders, fans top and bottom creating ample airflow.

Thats the one....biltong is currently going at R250-270 a kilo here, figure it should pay itself off, but wanted some feedback from people actually using first

There is something very wrong with the idea of chicken biltong. Google Campylobacter and Salmonella. Found in 86% of raw chicken sampled from a variety of stores accross SA. Only killed by thorough cooking. Sooner or later you're gonna be shittin thru the eye of a needle at fourty paces without splashing the sides
