    Eish.
Guess I need to give up my dedicated status and hunter's club membership then.

If I had all that stuff, I'd do my mind deciding what to go hunting with. Owning two rifles already has me standing in front of the safe for 10 minutes deciding whether to take the big one, the small one, or both

Ja but the thing is, I don't have a bolt gun.
Only one lever repeater and a few single-shots.

Whiles I agree that many handloaders goes to the extreme to try and fine tune a load, and in which of course that infers rifles do need loads tailor made for them for best performance, I’ve found MOA at 100m to be an indicator of nothing.

Firstly I think most rifle ammo are “made” for 24” rifles, so the barrel time differs in 22” or 26” for example, people who get a bad barrel time vs muzzle exit might often struggle here, it’s speaks little of the rifle.

The manufacturers test, they test well, the people in the field walk into gunshop and says “me want ammo”, and the highly educated sales person says “this is perfect for you”.

Nah, my collection is mostly old and mankey.
Most I've ever paid for a rifle was R3 500. That was the Ruger mentioned in my first reply on this thread.

With regard to the accuracy of calibers, I feel there may be a tiny bit of truth in it. Only in so far as the chamber tolerances of some modern calibers are considerably tighter than some of the old ones, and also that cartridge cases made on new, modern tooling is liable to be more consistent than those made on older tooling, and thus each new caliber that makes an appearance will be in a better situation for a while.

Most modern rifles with the exception of something significantly out of spec are capable of .5 MOA at 100m

Most humans over estimate their shooting capabilities and this leads to more variance in accuracy than the actual machined and assembled tool.

If your rifle shoots moa consistently and is sighted so that your Point of Aim is in the center of the group, your point of impact will never be more than ˝moa from where you aim. So with a rifle that consistently shoot 2moa and is sighted in the same way your poi will never be more than 1moa from where you aim.
In the context of hunting most hunters spend way too much time worrying about the size of their groups while shooting from a bench and way too little time learning to shoot under field conditions.

I was heavily taking the jealous piss. I own nether a single action nor a lever and I'm worse off for it.
