    Default 270 Bruno

Hi there guys... I have been looking for a rifle to add to my collection... Something aimed at those situasions where you need to reach further than my 303 allow...
Today I have come across a 270 bruno... I would give it 9/10... Fired a shot or two... No scope mounted... Due to non use... What would be a fair price for this rifle?

A chap on another forum just advertised a brand new (in box) Remington 700 synthetic 243 for R5500 (Somerset West)

Asking R8000... I also wasn't under the impression that they came standard with a hair trigger?

That would be the Brno De Lux, I think. I have a similar one in 308 Win. Fantastic rifle.

I own more than one Shotgun for wingshooting, but only recently ventured into rifle hunting... My bow didi most of the work until now... The 270 seems like the next logical step?

Very good caliber, can be used in bushveld and open planes and you wont go wrong with a brno delux - excellent rifle!!!

If you are willing to pay the price then go for it. Perhaps make a few calls to gunshops, maybe you could pick one up in a similar condition that already has optics?

But you cant go wrong with this rifle.

    You will get as many opinions as there are members on this forum, but what the hell, I'll give mine anyway;

Your 303 loaded with 215gr Woodleighs will be perfect for close shots up for anything up to at least kudu and with proper shot placement even the odd eland. Personally I prefer a 300gr plus bullet for eland. But that's me.
If you need a lighter caliber for plains hunting from 6,5mm up to to 7mm will do the trick.
Heavier plains hunting will probably be from 7,62mm up to 338.

With the 303 and one of the above, you should be set for now.

If you want one rifle to do it all, good luck. It does not exist.

Good luck, and shout if you need help.

And I agree with Lindzeyva, you can't go wrong with the Brno 270.

R8000 for a rifle in the current market seems a bit steep but it is a brilliant rifle. For that price it should have a scope on it. 270 is the right cal and I would not use anything heavier than a 130gr bullet of good construction. Many will argue with me but that combination will drop absolutely anything including Eland in a pinch (with good shot placement). It has mildish recoil and packs a punch. Buy the gun!

12 guage, is it a BRNO ZKK series, or a CZ 550 ? (There was a name change ) The latter is a later model. Both are good. The BRNO came with 2 sets of triggers, one standard and one set trigger, while the CZ only had one. Some of the BRNO rifles also have a pop up rear peep sight.
R8000 is on the high end price wise, but its a nice rifle.
