How strict are the firearms laws over there generally?

hi nkosi, when you want a gun on permit you must be a member of a shootingclub, all calibers are allowed here ,no full automatic guns also concealed carry is not allowed,
but when it comes to collect guns I think our law is the best in the world ,all guns on the list can be bought free whitout registration, and you can have as much as you want
it is however not allowed to have ammo on hand for the collector guns .....but that is in theory of course

hI Mel ,that's a difficult one , since no one asked me this question before I will give you an honest answer ,the unfired pre-post war colt was the most expensive at 6000€ ,the same for the Willbur Glahn engraved colt 6000€,but the appraised value is 10.000$ + on each gun, the other engraved ones are between 4500€ and 5500 € or some 48.000 S.A Rand,I think all my guns together somewhere around 100.000€ or above
the result off collecting for 35 years and spending every single euro to my gun collection, don't need a fancy car or a big eight room house, and I don't even have a pair of shoes that costed me more than 50$,

This is really a great collection in pristine condition. Where do you live, you clearly do not have the South African licensing limitations. Your collection is not only valuable but covers a large manufacturing period. My interest is in the machanical side and although the Colt SA lockwork was bulletproof, it would be interesting to know what changes or improvements was made to the mechanism over the 50 years. If one turn up in South Africa it will be expensive and not always in good condition.

ek is van Belgie en is nederlandstalig, thank you for the kind words
I don't think that the mechanics was changed ,an original 1873 SAA (except for the black powder frame)is exactly the same as the other SA 's made, cant speak for the fourth generation of colt's
