I remember Type 56 rifles going for R5,5k sometime back at Huntex,

Would love to know the price of those Type 56 at the factory gate.

Take out Shipping costs, Insurance, Import Duties, Importer markup, Dealer markup and VAT from that price and there cannot be much left.

I see there are new Norinco AKs about. Anyone know if their AR pattern rifles are destined to make an appearance again?

Just had an archived ad from Gunafrica dated Feb 2020 come for a CQA with some extras and 500 rounds for R9500. I remember seeing it and thinking that i would wait just a little longer. Ja, that turned out well.

Have you seen them anywhere currently? When you say 'build quality' do you mean for and finish as distinct from mechanical?

@oafpatrol: a batch is coming either the type56 that are coming. When they land obviously we will finally see but yeah pricing feels quite high currently.

Yes I have, I'll have to check where but they were in the region of R24K! Fit and finish leaves a lot to be desired, but as with all things you get what you pay for, except in this instance you're paying a lot more for a mediocre quality rifle. I would look at a Ruger or S&W AR before a CQA.
