Gelofte High School principal, Danie Strydom, has told Newswatch that they have also had to bring in counsellors to help staff and pupils come to terms with the tragedy.

Llewelyn Bond and his 21-year old brother Christopher were shot outside their home in Ashley Road last night.

Police say the two were approached by armed suspects who demanded the keys to a vehicle parked outside.

Christopher survived with a gunshot wound to the leg, but Llewelyn died on the scene, with a gunshot to the head.

Strydom says they ended most classes early, as both learners and teachers struggled to cope.

"The memorial service this morning, to me personally and to the kids and other staff members, was [a] traumatic experience. Yesterday was our farewell function for the matrics and their parents. It's just extremely sad how in 24-hours, the whole mood in the school changed 180-degrees."

Strydom says the popular young rugby player, and twin, will be sorely missed.

"[He was a] wonderful boy, very supportive of his friends. He was always willing to share his sandwiches - or whatever. Extremely friendly."
