Default 30 CAL MUZZLE DEVICE FOR 5.56 SUPPRESSOR ?

    Greetings GS,

I have a spare Ase Utra .30 cal muzzle device, which I was thinking of using on a 5.56 AR, for the sole purpose of using it to mount a QD suppressor on the rifle.

Could anyone foresee this being problematic in any way, in terms of reducing the effectiveness of the suppressor?

Logic tells me not, but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

I use a quick mount Lycan Kinetic Engineering suppressor with a 10mm hole. The mating comp on my 223 has got a 6.5mm ? and on my 9mm pcc the hole is 10mm. I can now use the same suppressor on both rifles.

It would be interesting if I can one day compare the standard suppressor with the 6.5mm hole to my 10mm hole one on my 223.
But sofar I'm quite happy with multi caliber suppressor. Next I'll get a comp for my 7.62×39 and 308. LoL

Thread pitch is probably the limiting factor.
Typically muzzle devices for anything larger than 5.56 have a 5/8x24 thread where .223 / 5.56 have 1/2x28 thread.

The guys at sus-tac had told me efficiency drops since gas escapes from the gap around the bullet.

Maybe consider selling the 30cal and get a 223 can..... You should have no problem moving the Ase Utra on fairly quickly.

Afaik the minimum barrel thickness for a 5/8x24 thread is 18mm or 19mm.
