Brno .22 Model 2 feed issues
Morning,
When I feed a round into the chamber, the bottom of the bolt engages with the round beneath and it scrapes off a layer of lead from the below round. This then results in sticky / difficult feeding. The problem gets progressively better as the spring tension reduces, but the bolt still engages with the round below it.
Looked at the angle (attitude) of the rounds in the magazine, they looked high at the front end, compared it to my brothers Model 1 and it appears to be identical.
Disassembled my magazine and it is the same as my brothers Model 1 magazine so I assume not incorrectly assembled.
It is the standard Brno 5 round magazine that came with the rifle.
Any thoughts?

Re: Brno .22 Model 2 feed issues
My Model 2 is a flawlessly reliable feeder unless I namby pamby the bolt stroke. Suspect it may be feed lip geometry based on your description. They don't need to be more than a gnat's ball hair out to 'stage' the cartridge just wrong. Has it worked properly before? Does it work with some ammo and not others? Have you tried with another mag? If it is the lip geometry it's an easy fix. You just slot a bit of bar stock at 90 degrees near the end and use that to very gently lever them (most likely) slightly inwards.

Mine is doing it with some "Aftermarket" mags. The original still workiing perfect. Try pasting a strip of masking tape to the inside of the lips and determine if the bullet side of the cartridge is then better held downwards so that the bolt is not stripping it from lead. If that is the case you have a better idea to the thickness of the "gnats ball hair" problem. Then you can attempt to slightly bend the lips halve of that in steps to correct it. I have corrected some and destroyed others. As yours is the original one, I would be hesitant to put tools to it without caution.
The "Plastic" CZ mags feed pretty good in my rifle.

Gentle and almost imperceptible leverage is all that's required. If you crank on the them they will tweak. Have done this on two of the Hi Standard mags I got second hand and also with two ancient *beat up* five rounders *for the Brno* that I got off gunafrica. They were rusty and visibly distorted but going very slowly with a good functional mag as template I was able to recover them.
I also have a number of the original plastic mags and those all work flawlessly.Last edited by oafpatroll; 19-06-2024 at 09:04. Reason: completeness

Have you tried a different mag?
Can you see where it drags on the bottom side of the bolt?

Mine does the same but not resulting in a sticky feeding issue. I'll pm you my number and you can get some pics of what mine looks like.

If I remember correctly, the magazine for that has two fingers that act on the front of the case. These just need to be tweaked inward a little.

Have you perhaps recently cleaned and dis-assembled the mag?
I once re-assembled my magazine incorrectly by and corrected it by rotating the magazine follower 180 degrees.
Fixed my feeding issues.

Must have, was used by my boet to slaughter crocodiles, however with 22 shorts so individually hand fed.
I shot two brands a week or so ago and to the best of my recollection both fed poorly. I can check.Does it work with some ammo and not others?
Also easy enough to do as I have a spare 10 round plastic mag.[/QUOTE]Have you tried with another mag?
Will only get to it next week and will give feedback.
