Nice looking bench design that. Something I have done in the past is to add ports to steel frames so they can be filled with fine dry sand. Works really well to increase mass and dampen vibration and it can be done at the site of 'installation'.

I'll contact you towards end of August, and I'm well aware wood is kak expensive lately.. There is sentimental value attached, but we can discuss options.

Very cool builds, well done! Some lovely work - really love that solid wood table!

Yeah the idea with this one is a few holes in the large parts of the frame so he can add sand as well, but I'm rather thinking a bracket or two so it'll be mounted to the wall and floor will be better. It's going into a walk-in safe, so there's concrete aplenty.

Great! You should still have my number, if after all these years you've kept it, otherwise just pop me a PM!

Thanks, yeah that was a favourite build of mine. Surprisingly not that expensive either, the wood is fairly affordable. I did calculations end last year and last guy was quoted R10k for a table like that (and I supply everything), I believe, and it's a 2,2m long (or however long the sleeper boards can be kept), 1m wide (or however wide you can keep the sleeper boards, multiplied by 4) table with a steel base, finished in an external polywax finish (so not varnish, and it is water, stain, alcohol and UV resistant).

I'd love to build more of them, but I don't think I'm really reaching the markets I need to, so I thought "let's post on here as well". :D

Bumping this up. I still do woodworking (albeit more picky with my projects), and my technical writing is also up for sale. I have found a client or two in the meantime and I'm keeping busy, but I also seemingly completed a contract so a bit more time has been freed up!
