    Default AKDAS

    Hi Fellow Forumites,

Is there anybody here that has or had any experience with the AKDAS SEM-223H 10" AR?

I don't really want a DM4, and this does look like a reasonably good quality AR. Gas piston operated with a folding stock and replaceble parts. I would love to hear feedback, really interested in this or a Saint victor 11".

    regards

Honestly for the price I would go M&P, pricing is getting great especially with the version 3 being launched in the states

For the AKDAS there just does not seem to be any information anywhere, I looked at the SA9, and ya apart from it being there, there isn't much news on it
Seems to be the MOA for Turkish guns
I'm still waiting for a large dealer to contact me, after mailing them, facebook posts, that was for a Celik arms crossline

Think it may be wise to stay with better known rifles, especially with the hack of licensing in SA

If you want a piston driven AR, the Grand power Freya range looks pretty sweet as well

Personally...and this is a personal opinion, not talking for the shop, I would take an AKDAS even if you offered me TWO S&W's or Rugers or most of the other AR's. Easily.
I regard these as some of the best AR's to come out in the past few years, personally I like them in the same league a Daniel Defense and Sig MCX. For 1/3 the price. Having fired them quite a bit, they are some of the most pleasant AR's I have fired.
    Consider the features:
No buffer tube, twin internal recoil springs like Sig.
    Chomed bolt.
You can pop off the (very comfortable MP5-style stock) in 2 seconds, and fire it if you need to without stock. Short barrel 7.5", 10" or 12" with longer ones coming, and ultra reliable, not a single jam. Almost no recoil, no muzzle flash.
Fully machined billet upper and lower, with the RHS bolt release built into the lower, like the Sig Spear.
Short stroke piston driven, NOT direct gas impingement.
    Takes regular AR internals.
Forend is locked to the upper to make one solid unit.
Best carry case I have seen so far, a hybrid soft/hard case. Comes with QD sling, and a full cleaning kit with from rods to pull through.
Steel replaceable insert where the charging handle contacts. Removable/replaceable case deflector.
    Built amazingly well.
Reason these aren't seen overseas much is that AKDAS is working with MKE to make military guns, they aren't focussed on US civilian sales yet.
Don't have to believe me, but check one out for yourself. I can tell you that more than 50% of the dealers that bought them, kept one for themselves personally. I'll be buying one for myself.
For sporting use, guys may want to wait for the longer barrel ones coming.
Btw...the 9mm version is just as impressive, an MP5/AR hybrid with features of both, although straight blowback with a massively and well made bolt.
As I said...this is not an advert, but check them out before you make up your mind.

I just checked the SA9 out yesterday and it was impressive to be honest, waiting on the dealer to confirm if they can get the other stock options (wire stock etc)

Is the 223 really a 1:6? Read some concerns regarding that

The 9mm looked good, also waiting on the dealer to confirm if they can get akdas mp5 mags as I've seen very few options in SA for mags

These guys def took SIG, HK etc into account when designing these rifles

That is some very high praise indeed. If my pockets get shallower any time soon I will definitely look into the 9mm version

Local here was R24 999.00 for the 9mm
    Comparative to the stribog SP9A2

I know the bog is known for not liking JHP, so will be curious to know if the SA9 eats them
It really did feel like a well put together item, standard with a trilug flash hider as well

But mp5 mags are not cheap

Stock options on the 223 and the 9mm are currently the "Bar" stock which is like the MP5 collapsible one, but very, very comfortable, and a retracting AR15 style stock.
On the next shipment, there will be side folding AR15 type stocks too...with spare stocks of all types available at good prices. And since you can clip it off in 2 seconds, it's easy to fit and own multiple options. They also take any vertical picatinny-mount stock.

There are lots of spare 9mm mags on the way. Prices should be good. The AKDAS mags have a bolt hold open feature built in, so you can use MP5 mags, but standard MP5 ones won't lock open. But mags won't be a problem to get at far less than HK prices. The 223 works on any AR mag.

Have had decent accuracy and 100% reliability with the 5.56/.223 so far. Twist seems to work fine.

7.5" and 10" 556/223's flew out of stock. Currently only 12" left in both stock options...with more of everything including longer barrels being prepared currently.
9mm's, both stock versions are available. But 6.5" only currently. Will have to consider longer barrel ones if there is demand.

Agree. Sig and HK were definitely heavy inspiration when these were designed. I expect there is already some military use of these firearms.

Rough price on the 223? I can't see them loaded on your website

I'd guess around R27995, but some dealers could be a little more or a little less.
