    Default Concealment Jacket

    Hi.

Any idea if one can find a similar concealment jacket in SA as per this video or any other jacket with large inside pockets to conceal a compact pistol

Bad idea to conceal a handgun in a pocket, as it can fall out, it can get stuck in the fabric (especially if it's hammer fired), it can shift it's position in the jacket pocket to where it is potentially unsafe to yourself or others (again depending on the make and model of gun) or any other of things that could go wrong.

Best to get a proper concealment holster. A shoulder holster would work well with a jacket.

That jacket would actually pretty neat if it had a loop inside to tie a minimilist hoster to so that the trigger guard is covered. Could actually be a pretty viable option then.

I gave this a good bit of thought once upon a time. The two most obvious problems but not the only ones are (1) the weight of the gun, even a small one, will pull a jacket down on the heavy side that will be uncomfortable as well as giving the game away and (2) you can't safely (from the point of view of access) carry in anything but some sort of properly fitting holster.

That means, in my humble opinion that (1) a pocket accessed from inside, must by modified to fit the gun (2) the material must be a lot stronger that what jackets are usually made from (3) really needs a proper holster sewn into the pocket and (3) a counter weight in a pocket the opposite side to prevent out of balance sag. Not at all easy.

An old mate of mine who used to the the president of a 'recreational motorcycle club' chapter usually carried two pistols. One in an IWB at 3 o clock and another in his heavy duty riding jacket in a leather holster stitched onto the shell on his left side shoulder holster' style. The gun was counterbalanced by mag carriers done in the same way on the RHS. It worked very well and due to the weight and stiffness of the jacket was pretty much undetectable from the outside. It wasn't unusual for him to get into gun free venues by directing the searchers to his primary/lure gun jedi mind trick style.
