Importing springs
Im looking at getting some springs imported from the US.
Are there any restrictions on this? Its just a spring kit, and would not be considered modifying the gun.
The supplier there does not ship to SA - so was thinking of shipping it to a MyUS account, and then having them ship it to me.
Any red flags?
I do know of the EasyExport website. Have used a shop in the US previously who was registered with them.
And got a spring kit for another gun of mine. Took a while, but it arrived with no issues.
But the parts I'm looking for is not on any of their supported sites

Re: Importing springs
If the springs has any reference that it is for a firearm or firearm manufacturer name on it MyUS will not ship it at all.
Also if they are not 100% sure or convinced they will also not ship.

Re: Importing springs
I've ordered springs / complete recoil assembly and more through lakeline using easy export. Lakeline now also ship to SA through DHL as soon as you send them the import permit. Whole process took 10 days to receive my last order.

Re: Importing springs
https://lakelinellc.com/
First orders had to go through SA post office because of import duties. I explained to Joe at Lakeline that this is not viable due to the state it's in. They then worked a deal through easy export and DHL to get it all done more efficiently. These chaps in Texas really are great and very helpfull. If u don't see what your after on their website, ask them. They can get it and take care of rest.
Specify when ordering that u want the DHL option.

Re: Importing springs
I have used LakeLine via EasyExport previously. But they do not have the kit im looking for.
I have been through all the registered companies with EasyExport and none of them keep what im looking for
I contacted Brownells in the US who export to SA. I asked them about import permit, and they sed not necessary. So gonna try them out now. Costing almost dbl, then purchasing from supplied, having it shipped to MyUS account, and then having it shipped to SA

Re: Importing springs
Anything the courier or freight forwarder picks up as remotely firearm related they will not ship.
On Amazon was a Case Catcher. Which they showed ships to SA. I ordered directly from maker of it and shipped it to Aramex global. They refused.
Said they will destroy it or I can pay $20 to have it shipped back to seller.
I sent 100s of emails showing its not a firearm part.
They said no anything firearm related even if accessory is no way.
I did get pre authorization then with DHL shipping and they ended up collecting and delivering.
Amazing is that DHL collected the Monday and delivered Friday morning by me. Although pricey.

Re: Importing springs
Aramex is a plague. I had cheaply access to their global shipping service through work but they were pissy about anything even remotely gun oriented so I ditched them.
