Outdoor PIR/beam recommendations?
Any recommendations for outdoor passives/beams that criminals can't crawl under?
Got another video on my area's Whatsapp group this morning showing yet another occasion of criminals breaking the mechanism of a sliding gate, and proceeding to crawl like dogs up a driveway and helping themselves to something (this time an unsecured trailer).
While I like to think I have some bases covered (secured gate and motor, perimeter electric fencing, house alarm etc) I have avoided the idea of garden beams/outdoor passives from the many stories I've heard - "Hadidas set off my Roboguards!", "The neighbour's cat will set them off and if you set them pet friendly they just crawl under them" etc - but are those still valid concerns in 2024?
Currently have a Paradox MG5050 system, I see Paradox offers some PMD85 outdoor PIRs and NV780 beams.

Re: Outdoor PIR/beam recommendations?
I have 16 outdoor beams including VX40, VX80 and point to points. The former two if set up right and passed the leopard crawl test when i did it 10 plus years back. I see no reason why the current stuff wouldn't be better.

If you have cameras why not consider offsite cctv monitoring?
Disclaimer - I am in the industry but don't get kcik backs for new clients.
You can also link a transmitter to your gate so that should it remain open for a set period of time, it sends an alarm signal.

Over here they steal the beams...
Still a while before I buy and put up beams so no research and advice from me on a specific one. Whatever you use, getting one piece of hardware covered by another should be part of your plan.

Have a look at the below, they are part of hikvision.
I used Paradox DG85 outdoors, but as they go I'm replacing them with the below and they are much better and cheaper.
Just as important as product, is finding an installer that actually knows how to properly set the beams up and isn't just going to pluck it on the wall and be done.

Ajax looks like a great product. PIR with camera that sends pics to your phone when triggered. Unfortunately I doubt it will work with Paradox systems

I like my Askari system and use it as a independant early attack warning system. My remote receiver travel around the yard with me.
