Heahcare CEO gunned down in New York
https://www.foxnews.com/us/unitedhea...curity-experts
This story is a week old, but since it's firearm related and the same issues it conjures up (such as shitty healthcare and an allegedly greedy selfish ruling class) are also relevant to our country.
Before we begin, murder is always wrong. The man responsible for this crime needs to be arrested and punished. The victim might have done some dodgy stuff, but it's truly terrifying the glee some people are feeling over his death. In fact, it's downright ghoulish. Pretty terrifying how evil some people are and the joy they derive from other's suffering.
On a related note, A lot of people also remarked that the killer is clearly someone highly skilled, as his suppressed pistol jammed multiple times and he quickly cleared it each time (some viewers claimed he used a Welrod, a bolt action pistol used by the UK during the Second World War, although many firearms experts dispute this). Does anyone have anything to add to this?

Re: Heahcare CEO gunned down in New York
Saw the footage and what a few real experts had to say. NOT a Welrod or the modern version. The cocking action and tapping into battery does not correspond. There is a Forgotten Weapons short vid out that explains it nicely. Also look at the Garand Thumb vid.
With what I know about Discovery over here I would have thought that something like that would have happened here a long time ago.

Re: Heahcare CEO gunned down in New York
Too many of these big corporate CEO's are very comfortable with screwing over the little guys while hiding behind an army of lawyers, thinking that they are untouchable.
Apparently the company that this CEO worked for has the highest percentage of claim rejection at 35%. Way higher than the industry average. They have even been using an AI algorithm to reject claims in the last year. Talk about the height of cold and heartless corporate greed. This company had been under investigation for this behavior.
I hope his company's high profits were a comfort to him while he bled out on that freezing New York sidewalk.

It was most certainly not a Welrod or any mechanical derivative of it.

Re: Heahcare CEO gunned down in New York
In SA at least, medical aid funds have rules that define what is and isn't covered. Few to buggerall people look at those rules when they get signed up and are bleak when they or their loved ones aren't covered beyond whatever those rules state. Were the funds to cover everything and anything they would need to increase their already crippling premiums to levels that almost no one could afford and they'd need to be closed down. In SA the fund and the administrator are separate entities with the administrator profiting from the provision of the admin service. The fund doesn't make a profit and exists only to portfolio manage the assets to cover anticipated claims. I've no idea how it works in the US.

Heahcare CEO gunned down in New York
I joined Discovery in 1998. Eventually wife and family happened. We are a family of 5 on only a hospital plan. Till now we only used it for the birth of our kids. My son is diabetic, and they contribute fuckall towards it. Believe me when i say, diabetic in this country is moer expensive. Our premium is just under R14k a month. I also have no sympathy for the oke who got shot.
Edit: i am not saying its only Discovery. They are probably all the same

Re: Heahcare CEO gunned down in New York
The killer left behind casings with handwritten words on them, "depose," "deny" and "defend," drawing comparisons to the book "Delay, Deny, Defend: Why Insurance Companies Don't Pay Claims and What You Can Do About It" – speculation swirled that the slaying may have grown out of resentment for a denied claim.

Re: Heahcare CEO gunned down in New York
Are you suggest that you aren't being covered for something that you should that's in the rules? You, like me, are on a hospital plan which you seem to be getting for something of a bargain as I'm paying about the same for 3 people. Hospital plans are medical insurance for unexpected occurrences, expecting that the fund should cover the cost of treating your sons chronic condition for the price of a hospital plan premium is unrealistic and as I mentioned before, if they did the fund would be bankrupted in short order.
