T...I hear you...but what of the "Plus One" rule..these BGs are rarely alone and unless they are standing together holding hands you could be in a heap of trouble if you turn on the light and eliminate the immediate threat and by doing so his buddy who might be standing "out of light" gives you the dreaded "third eye" . Tactically you could be vulnerable while sweeping to find his buddy because even if you are moving you are trackable by virtue of the light. Its a tough one for sure...catch 22

That is why you get a WML that produces both a hot center and a good peripheral cone as well, and you won't get that from a cheapie. You can 'what-if' a situation to death, but I'm with T...turn the light on and get busy.

I'm with ikor, and one reason I like toys like the X300 U.

The more light you throw, the less place there is to hide. This is taken from a TNVC .PDF about NVG's, comparing the dual tube 40 degree FOV to the new 4 tube 97 degree FOV's, but the principal is the same :

I get the whole "if you turn on your light at night bad guys will see you and kill you." Thing.

But. No one can answer for me how they apply cloaking during the day. Also if you can't see it it's hard for you to kill it. And as the good guy if you can't identify it you shouldn't kill it.

Does the X300 u throw the widest amount of light of the wml's?
Is the inforce APL not great?

The APL has a an awesome brightness to weight to cost ratio. The X300U is the big daddy of brightness.

If you want to carry with a WML mounted the APl had lots going for it.

As a HD light the brightness of the U boat is awesome.
