Default Spartan Arms PCC - the shocking tale of excellent service given!

Bought a SAI 9mm PCC from Spartan Arms last year. On exactly 90 working days, CFR was kind enough to send me a SMS 'approved'. Got the printout, and went and fetched it on Wednesday. Friday after work head off to Irene Arms, wanted to sight the Sig Romeo I bought from Stevin on it. Load 5 rounds in to the magazine (they give it to you with a nice Glock happy stick). First round fired, fking smoke everywhere, magazine kicked out, and a "wat de fok!?" from Marco the RO behind me (he was keen to see it run). I ask him as RO to clear. We find part of the extractor on the ground, and the case is missing. Bullet did exit the barrel.

Fearing the worst I head of to Spartan Arms today (Saturday), and Demi is behind the counter. Politely explain what happened, he thinks it might have been a double charge, but whatever the issue was, he says he stands by his 'limited lifetime warranty except barrel'. Call the gunsmith, he chats to me a bit, heads off to the workshop and I grab a cooldrink from the coffee bar. Not 10 mins later the gunsmith comes back "let's go test it, I replaced the entire bolt carrier group for you". Run about half a mag through it, and it's running well.

So, big thank you to Demi and Spartan, I was impressed by the service!

That's as good as it gets. Thanks for giving them the credit.

Good to know! Out of interest, do you know of any dealers that back the SAI stuff in KZN? When the time comes, I have a keen eye in their .223 variant.

    Factory reloads, similar to Diplopoint.

I'm not a fan. I've seen issues with the factory reloads you get in the blue boxes as well.

I won't shoot factory reloads in any of my firearms. If i get a kaboom off a reload, i know i'm the person to blame, not some half assed QC from somewhere.

Spartan and their service are legendary. Demis and his crew have always been courteous and so helpful.

x2 for me. A substantial majority of squibs I've seen in the last 20 or so years have been with 'factory' reloads. Have also heard obvious differences in report in strings shot with the stuff on occasion. Wouldn't shoot any of the stuff if it was given to me for free. It would be pulled and loaded again.

I have on occasion bought the blue box reloads when that was all that was available. You can sometimes feel the difference between shots...

Which suggests that they differ quite substantially in velocity which I take as a very bad sign. The blue box stuff has accounted for the bulk of the squibs I've seen. None of those have been recent, i.e. not within the last two years at least, but what I have seen has put me off enough that even if I need to buy ammo for sport use it wouldn't be 'factory' reloaded even at 50% of the price of virgin. The difference between quality, consistent and safe ammo and that stuff is in the checking and QC. I don't believe for a moment that the people doing the work here have got the tools, skills, time or giveable phucks to do it to anything resembling the standard of what would happen in a 'factory'.

My last conversation with somebody about the blue box issues, I was told that they have fully automated now.

At a stage I was in a back office at blue box and saw the cctv screens of the work area. Red machines being used to load ammo on. Just made me decide again to rather load my own.
