Re: Rust in Barrel
I think you're on the money here. Seems to be the side of the barrel that comes closer to my skin. I'll stop by a shop tomorrow to pick up the product recommended above. Luckily this isn't going to be my carry for much longer. Hopefully the new EDC I get will not have the same issue

Re: Rust in Barrel
Honestly my worry is, will this have a detrimental impact on my accuracy?

Not unless you're a Bianchi grade shooter. No expensive magic potions are required. Clean and oil your pistol frequently with any cheap product and you'll be fine. Leave it for months between inspection and cleaning and no magical potion will prevent it corroding if you carry it against your body and you sweat acid like me.

Re: Rust in Barrel
Accuracy is a relevant term. I don't think the OP is worried about shooing the wings off of a fly at 20m. That is precision, something not really super relevant in a handgun.
I think he wants to hit a human size problem at at a reasonable distance. Between 5 to 20m, I doubt the accuracy is going to be an issue if he is aiming for Centre mass.

Re: Rust in Barrel
By far the majority of people say accuracy when the mean precision. Case in point is posted groupings online that are very rarely at the point of aim. Yet they all boast of the accuracy of said rifles.
I am also certain that Shooty meant "precise accuracy" in his statement.

Re: Rust in Barrel
This to me is very much like having to learn a bunch of new names for birds that I have known by now-"outdated" names for many decades. Like African Harrier-hawk instead of Gymnogene.
Or calling a silencer a suppressor instead.
Technically perhaps more correct, but everyone knows exactly what you mean when you say "my rifle is not accurate".
Also, the fact that one's group is not on the bullseye might not necessarily mean that the rifle isn't correctly zeroed. There are at least two reasons why one might want the group not to fall on the bullseye. Firstly if you are an older-school hunter and you are using the "maximum point-blank range" system, and also if you don't want to destroy your aiming mark.
There are times when semantics are absolutely critical (such as the difference between a Bullet and a Cartridge when standing in the court accused of illegal possession of ammunition) and there are times when it just doesn't matter a whole lot.
