Re: Thinking of getting a knife
Honey badgers are fine but the clip is junk and bends more easily than a paper-clip. The D2 seems to hold a reasonable edge.
After countless bending incidents (clip catching on things and bending, not springing back) the clip is now toast and the knife does duty in the console of my vehicle. You can probably get a replacement clip but I haven't bothered. I haven't had this clip issue on any other brands that I've carried, and I've carried a few.
I second the other advice - 1. losing an EDC carry is a likely occurence at some point. Don't carry something that that will traumatise you if you lose it. 2. Spydercos take a lot of beating and the Tenacious is a nice entry-level option (but quite large). Even better is a Delica but you'll pay double. Various steel options are available.
One of the nicest EDC knives I've had was a Kershaw Volt - assisted opening and the blade profile was really nice. Not sure they're available any more though. I've used a few Kershaws - my take-away is that they lose an edge way quicker than Spydercos for example. As I seem to lose a knife every couple of years, I now prefer cheaper options because losing a PM2 causes some remorse.

Re: Thinking of getting a knife
I'll second, third, fourth and fith the Honey Badger.
I like knives and have a whole lot, nothing high end bud some nice stuff.
I'm a farmer, I abuse my knives. My very first knife buying critera is a tanto point, the second is a reversible clip.
Specifically as it's the tip that breaks first in abuse. Second, I carry certain items in specific pockets, every time.
If the clip is on the wrong side and can't be moved I'll never carry it.
Honey Badger brought out a Tanto and I moved over to carrying those. Very happy, holds and edge, coloured handles so getting lost in grass is harder. I have yet to break a tip.
I don't find the clips flimsy at all, I have 2 x Genuine CRKT's with fubar clips.
I have lost a screw though, but then that's not just on my Honey badger.Israeli Carry is for dead people

Re: Thinking of getting a knife
People with no loose screws are normally wound up way tighter than they should be...
My knifes get used hard - garden, kitchen, farming... If it looks cuttable, the knife comes out. For me a make is not that important as long as it is durable and the cutting edge lasts a while with what I throw at it. And then I also do not want to pay thousands for one. Less than R1K.
I currently have a Bestech with a D2 blade that has been in my pocket for about two years now. Was less than R1K at an overpriced shop in our local mall.

Re: Thinking of getting a knife
I have an Emerson CQC15. I love it, but it stays mostly in my bedside drawer for fear of losing it.
Kershaw makes a good copy of them at half their price.A roaring Lion kills no game
