I was unable to get a speed loader to play nicely with my left (i.e. weak) hand. i find the manipulation and securing of of the frame/cylinder to be well within it's capabilities though.

Perhaps a skill level that few can attain? Or something done now but will change again like many other techniques? Or?

For me it is easier to do the cylinder in my left hand move with my right (more clever/natural) hand reaching over to drop/push the rounds in. For someone keeping in the right hand might be easier or more natural.

Dropping in a moon lip with your weak hand isn't the same as hand loading

Ain't that the truth. A lot easier than using a speed loader too.

Makes sense to swop the revolver into the other hand then.... and the HKS speed loaders, but for everything else id argue keep the shooting hand on the gun.

Yes but only if you have the dexterity in your weak hand to do it faster than with your strong. I'll wager that the vast majority of people don't.
