Re: Safari Outdoor App - Gun Sales back
There is no way in hell I'm providing that so that I can sell stuff on a glorified classifieds. S&O owes buyers nothing in terms of vetting sellers as they earn no revenue and if they chose to do it it would be to protect their brand and it would probably come at the cost of user numbers. Scam avoidance is the job of the buyer as it is anywhere else online or off. By 'policing' I was meaning that I found it odd that they allowed other dealers to trade on their platform openly. They may of course be getting them to pay something and are just not making that public.

Re: Safari Outdoor App - Gun Sales back
SO would need to do something to vet sellers. Any company would presumably want to avoid reputational damage (even where buyers haven't done their necessary due diligence.) Some usually very careful gun guys have been caught by these okes.
What form that vetting would take is a matter of choice for SO and whether sellers would be amenable to being vetted is likewise a matter of choice.

Re: Safari Outdoor App - Gun Sales back
They don't 'need' to do anything and unless they are making meaningful returns from the thing they wouldn't have a huge incentive to do anything more than display a disclaimer. Performing KYC type processing is an expensive and overhead heavy exercise and the sellers aren't even their clients. It also doesn't guarantee that the seller isn't a crooked shit and there's no police force to speak of so having a seller's last known adress and ID leaves you DIY or outsource paths to resolution anyway. If you want to avoid being scammed pay for stuff you can't hold or have looked at by someone you trust. Its not that hard really.

Re: Safari Outdoor App - Gun Sales back
I doubt if there's the margin in it to justify them diverting capital and attention from what they already do rather well which is pretty high end luxury goods retail at scale.
All of these ideas assume that S&Os interest in having a classified extends beyond bringing traffic to their platforms and stored but I very much doubt it does.

Re: Safari Outdoor App - Gun Sales back
Interesting view points.
Personally, I do all the necessary checks and if in doubt, walk away.
