Even better question. Was it ever unsafe to use?

The P320 was never banned for IPSC, there were some competitors using it at the 2025 IPSC Handgun World Shoot.

SADPA EXCO has unbanned it, although there's a few hoops you need to jump through first.

Not sure about IDPA or USPSA, I know a lot of private shooting ranges in the US has banned it, and also a lot of instructors have banned it in their classes.
I heard SADPA would allow the use assuming Sig took a look at the pistol, but I am yet to see what exactly they are looking for and if they are replacing anything or adding upgrades...
    Anyone know what SADPA expects?

Despite their silence and general mis-handling of the situation, I am quite convinced that Sig have had a team of engineers "looking at it" since the first occurrence.

Sadly, editing the title is not possible now given the passage of time.

Let me know if the link works for the official SADPA document

    Works for me, thanks.

Each P320 that is intended to be used in SADPA matches needs to be checked and inspected by a registered gunsmith and given a written report stating that it is safe to be used as intended.
I wonder whether many gunsmiths would be willing to make such a declaration (on any firearm for that matter)?

Now this begs the question, when will SADPA require the same gunsmith inspection report for other brands?

Reason being is that a lot of people modify their pistols to turn EDC pistols into race guns. And very few send their pistols to gunsmiths for those alterations. It is not like ND's are solely a Sig thing.
