SSMLE MkIII*
Hi all

Found this in an estate. A shortened Mk III* All the normal markings, serial A92220
Seems a lot handier than a full-length SMLE.

Re: SSMLE MkIII*
Both look in great condition, the shortened version is particularly interesting.

Re: SSMLE MkIII*
The rear sight is an innovative modification.
The butt stock looks shortened too.
Looks like an early version of the no 5 Jungle carbine concept, possibly converted for a lady or other short statured person.

Re: SSMLE MkIII*
Both rifles appear to be in good shape. A pity the shortened one's collection value has been destroyed.

Re: SSMLE MkIII*
For those who collect British Military Rifles an SMLE is a basic requirement. The value will depend upon model, make, date and condition (internal/external). For the most common version, the Mk III *, in good shape, I'd expect the value to be R 4,000 and upwards.
