SSMLE MkIII*

Hi all

Found this in an estate. A shortened Mk III* All the normal markings, serial A92220

Seems a lot handier than a full-length SMLE.

Both look in great condition, the shortened version is particularly interesting.

The rear sight is an innovative modification.
The butt stock looks shortened too.
Looks like an early version of the no 5 Jungle carbine concept, possibly converted for a lady or other short statured person.

Both rifles appear to be in good shape. A pity the shortened one's collection value has been destroyed.

Are these very collectable or valuable? Lately the SMLE bug has been biting and I am slowly looking around for them.

For those who collect British Military Rifles an SMLE is a basic requirement.The value will depend upon model, make, date and condition (internal/external). For the most common version, the Mk III *, in good shape, I'd expect the value to be R 4,000 and upwards.
