Does anyone have the story/history behind this house

I would love to see pictures of this house before it was abandoned

I read somewhere that foreigners built the house and abandoned it after a home invasion / they were attacked, but it doesn't seem like anyone knows for sure.

It looks like a huge amount of money and effort was expended. Whatever the story I doubt its a happy one.

We found it by chance on a outride this weekend.

What a shame to see a house of that magnitude with breath taking views, Spring water swimming pools etc. , stripped to the bone

I used to spend a lot of time in the Eastern Freestate and the areas near the Lesotho border were full of abandoned farms already 25 years and more back. Had a few friends who lived rent free on some of them by arrangement with the owners so that they weren't empty as then they were quickly stripped bare.
