Yip, there's unfortunately a significant oversupply of extremely stupid people and some of them have guns. I avoid shooting around strangers as far as possible unless it's in a strictly controlled environment. I've been swept by people with loaded guns at indoor ranges and once had some arrogant old fuckwit fire a shot on a rifle range while I was setting up gongs. His 'explanation' was that i was on the other side of the range so he was of the view that it was fine.

Interesting to note there is nothing on their website prohibiting / stating 'No muzzle brakes'.
If I drove there with 1 LD rifle with a brake only to be told there it is "Verboten" I'd be pi$$ed

That does seem like a moer of an omission on their part and must have pissed off a bunch of people already. Brakes on ranges are a bit like very loud music in cars with open windows, not to everyone's taste.

Hippo Creek - I set out a 1300m range with berms from 400 to 1300m at 100m intervals. To the west of Vanderbijlpark.

Waterval range, yes a bit distant and just outside Rustenburg. Up to 900m with gongs from 100m onward. Muzzle breaks allowed however ear protection compulsory. Members are strict and self regulating and very disciplined and a number has done RO course themselves. Otherwise Derby for those that apparently want a bit of a wind challenge. Plus it is a day trip out to the Bushveld. Might see a kudu or 2 crossing the road driving there….

The 900m range is used for F-class. I doubt if they have gongs.
