Kruger Park Trip Advice.

I have an unexpected break early in June and plan to make the most of it. I have not visited the Kruger Park in 15 years and would appreciate advice on the best way to spend 5-6 days/nights in the park. I don't want to camp, so will be staying in chalets.
Advice will be appreciated.

Actually, helicopters are not that great for relaxed game viewing, they are cramped, horribly noisy, causes everything to run and are often downright scary at low speeds and low altitudes. For a game census, perfect but I'm doing a census in April, that should fulfil my helicopter wants for a year or so.

had mates there with the floods. They needed to be evacuated due to lack of chronic medicine. Their vehicle is still there…

I've found the south to be most diverse in game viewing, both herbivores and predators. The twist is that I've found the central and northern regions to have less visitors / vehicles. Given that you're going in June, and the veld is drying, there should be more game alongside the major rivers and tributaries. If it's up and running, Letaba is a great overnight stop with a beautiful view over the river. But that's as far north that's I would go. From the southern area, the Lower Sabie has tar road through to Skukuza. I normally enter at Crocodile Bridge, then take the loops until the Tshokwane road. It's dirt, SUV friendly, then head to Skukuza and drive the tar road back to Crocodile Bridge. I'd recommend giving yourself more time than planned regarding travelling distance in the case of staying outside the park - gate time closures etc. If staying outside the park, make sure to book your entry days to skip the line. It's a haul of a drive getting there from KZN, so yours will be more so. Quite honestly, we spend the first day up there in and around the accommodation/facilities, and do the park every second day, for a a full day. I don't know the southwestern region well, possibly other Gunsiters can give advice. Regarding staying in Park accommodation, it's been ok, not much more. I'll let you know if more comes to mind.

As you said Early June, I can recommend Southern Kruger, if it was to fall within school holidays then one should try avoid the south because it becomes very busy
