Competency turnaround time
Hi guys.
I'm using the "track my application" site to check my competency (among others). This site however, under the "statistics" section, says that the average competency turnaroundd time is 350 days.
Please tell me this is not correct.
If you had to lie to tell me that, please say so too.

Re: Competency turnaround time
On a more serious note, I haven't needed to do a new competency in many years but the last one I got too at least 6 calendar months and the last one I renewed took a little under a year.

Re: Competency turnaround time
Is it for a new comp application or renewal?
The renewal is usually fairly painless if done in conjunction with a licence app or renewal (in my personal sample size of one). It all takes so f-ing long that I couldn't tell where the comp renewal finished and the licence processing started. But eventually I got my licence and my comp was allegedly renewed. But my request for a copy/print-out of the new comp certificate was met with a stout refusal on the grounds "that it's not necessary, it's on the seee-stem". Ah well, that put my mind right at ease..
But a new application... falls in the same category as solving the mysteries of the universe. And the mysteries of the seee-stem. Good luck and plenty of patience!

Re: Competency turnaround time
Calling it a seee-stem or anything similar reflects on your generous nature. My already low expectations of whatever that thing is have just been depth charged.
I handed in a new app and a renewal on the 23d. got DFO attention SMS yesterday and plugged the numbers in to mygunapp and found an odd anomaly. The new app is all good but the renewal which is supposed to be for a 12G semi-auto Mossberg has a license/reference number which isn't one of mine, shows that it's for a High Standard 22 pistol (which is what the new app was for) and reflects a serial number for another High Standard 22 which I already own. Thinking that it may have been an issue with mygunapp I looked at the SAPS site and lo and behold the shit show was reflected there in all its glory.
Its hard for me to get my head round how fucked the thing must be for that combination of retarded to be possible and how staggeringly incompetent and/or corrupt the people who specced, coded, tested and paid for it must be.
