SLR Competency Issue
Morning All,
Im looking for some advice please.
Back in 2012 I licensed multiple SLRs and therefore did my proficiency training for Manually Operated Rifle and SLR.
Back then there was the mess where the SAPS system did not have an option for SLR and we were told to draw a block with HMC and put a tick in it.
My competency was approved but only said manually operated rifle on it. Multiple SLRs were approved with this competency and renewed as well.
I recently renewed my competency and provided both proficiency certificates and ticked SLR but my certificate still only says Manually Operated Rifle
I am now having the issue that I want to license a SLR (I dont have any currently licensed anymore) and my DFO is saying that I have the incorrect competency and that I need to apply for a further competency for SLR, the challenge is:
1) I dont have statement of results as that was not needed in 2012 and the training provider no longer exists
2) Even if I did have them, they would be from too long ago.
Ive been told that its possible to have the certificated amended with a form but my DFO is unaware of this or the process.
Does anyone have some advice for me please?

Re: SLR Competency Issue
Submit further comp, dont need the statement of results, as it was during Sasseta, not PFTC

Re: SLR Competency Issue
I have a friend who, during that same time, also did his competency. He licenced an SLR (VZ 58) under that competency, and when the time came to renew, the pawpaw properly hit the fan. The guys at the cop shop could not explain how he had the licence for the firearm, issued on the competency that he has for it, but he can't renew on it. In the end he had to go re-do his competency to get past the problem, and the cop shop wanted him to go hand in his rifle because he was illegally in possession of it, according to them. Was a BIG headache.

Re: SLR Competency Issue
I had EXACTLY the same issue when I had to renew my SLR license last year. I now have to do a new SLR competency, although CFR renewed the license as a manually operated rifle. Still following through with the SLR competency as I want to get another SLR soon
