Re: Advice for a stock for a Howa mini action rifle
I had Armtec make me a rifle stock for my Howa 6.5 Grendel and then installed a Arms bottom metal - this did need some machining and after a second trip it works well.
You can get a metal trigger guard replacement that takes the default magazines which is x100 times better then the plastic OEM ones.

Re: Advice for a stock for a Howa mini action rifle
A quick note, I will be offline for a few days (short hunting trip, out of town wedding - not mine, followed by fishing trip), back next week Sunday and will follow-up on responses on my return

Re: Advice for a stock for a Howa mini action rifle
I second getting a custom stock made. It's worth taking the rifle to the stock builder so he can do his thing, and then you get get the stock built exactly as you want. It maybe won't be the lightest, but it'll fit, bedding is usually done as part of the package and then you know it's what you want.

Re: Advice for a stock for a Howa mini action rifle
Thanks for the replies and advice.
After considering the options I have decided to go with HF Stocks - Varmint Hunter stock in carbon fibre.
https://hf-stocks.co.za/products/varmint-hunter-stock
Rikus will also custom make aluminium sleeves to add to the aluminium bedding block to take the pressure off the Howa's plastic "bottom metal" and ensure the action is securely fitted to the stock, and do the fitting (the advantage of him being at Patensie and me being around the corner in Port Elizabeth).
It is however going to test my patience - it takes about 2 weeks to manufacture the stock, but he has a 3 month waiting list.

Have a look at the Hera H7, I set up my 22-250 with it. I needed something that matched accuracy similar to a chassis system but also light weight and looked kick ass aswell. Mine weighs in at around 4.7kg with a scope, bipod and sling
