Competencies after 30/06/2026
I’ve seen on other forums some mention that competency training done after the the 30th of June will no longer be valid.
Does this mean everyone will have to redo their competencies in the future or will training done before that date still be valid?
Reason I ask is I’ve been putting off doing further competencies for manually operated and slr and shotgun - I stupidly only did handgun when I did mine a few years back. Is it worth getting it done before the deadline or will I just be wasting time and money because I’d have to do it again anyway?

As I understand, everything you have already done remains valid.

Re: Competencies after 30/06/2026
It is still to be confirmed that the unit standards will be extended after June 2026 (I've not heard anything otherwise yet), meaning any enrolments until then remain valid and PROFICIENCY training may continue for those who have enrolled.
I cannot foresee them not extending the unit standards timeframe, with nothing to replace the training regimen, otherwise many training providers would be in peril.
PS. Please stop calling it 'competency' training - it is proficiency training.

Re: Competencies after 30/06/2026
There is an opinion that the fact that there is no replacement system ready to go nor any published transition path is quite deliberate, and that this is in fact just another attempt to effectively disarm us.
If that is indeed the case then I expect that they will try to declare all previous proficiencies as being insufficient or no longer valid.
We can only hope that if the above reason is indeed true that enough pressure can be brought to bear.

Given the precedent over the last 20+ years I'd say it's an opinion that has some weight. It goes without saying that there will also be an element of rent seeking in it too. 5c says that the comrades who'll make money from the alternative are already lined up and smacking their their gravy slurping chops.

I see the qualification has been extended until the end of the year.
