Once you have all the kit you want, strap it on your back and carry it around for a day, include a rifle(if you don't have one a pistol will do) and a good number of rounds of ammo, do EVERYTHING with it on, gardening, walking the dog, climbing into and out of the car, some shooting too, then at the end of the day repack your survival bag and toss the stuff you recon you can live without
