Musgrave Model 90
Hallo
First time poster ,but have been lurking[reading] for quite some while now.
I would like someone to please write me a short review on this action.
I bought a new ,in the white with no serial number action from a gunsmith .
Next was the easy part ,deciding on the caliber. My choice was 6.5x55 Se.
Then I bought the barrel,a Lothar Walther,25 inches long and in the appropriate twist for 140 grn bullets.
I had the rifle built and now it is finished ,just waiting for me to shoot it.
It has been 4 months now but Cfr does not want to come through for me.As everyone now knows the doubts start to set in ,
Will the gun shoot.
Did I buy the right barrel .
Can I trust the gunsmith.
Why did I choose this action!!!!!.
To be honest ,I am proudly South African [van der Merwe] and I want a South African rifle even though it has a foreign barrel or caliber.
I have scoured my Man Magnum collection for articles but only found some on the Musgrave K98,Lyttelton ens.
Now I would someone to please tell me the pros and cons of this action.
My questions would be as follow.
Will this gun be a shooter[if it depends on the action]
Pros and cons
Aftermarket triggers
Lock time[trigger]
How does it compare to the Rsa action[I have quite some experiance with this action .
Why you love yours.
This is quite a mouth full but i would like to hear from somebody that actually owns a rifle with this action and uses it .
Thanks in advance

Re: Musgrave Model 90
afrikanerbloed,
the model 90 is one of the many success stories of Musgrave. the mod 90 is an improved version of the mod 80. the mod 80 was the first action that Musgrave took credit for designing an manufacturing completely on their own from scratch. the improvements the 90 had over the 80 are:
- new extractor
-feeding from the magazine was improved
-different safety
-they changed from the musgrave trigger to the Thor or Timney. so you can buy both today if there is something wrong with you trigger( which i doubt)
-both the 80 and 90 are well known for their of the shelf accuracy
- thew accuracy come from many aspects but they are well known for their good locking and so ensuring accuracy
-the bolt has very few free play
they built this action using calibers from 223-375. the action compares and feels much like a Sako action.
just spoke to a guy that worked for Musgrave for 15 years. he is a walking data base on all things Musgrave.
