Default Gun Free South Africa delusional?

Gun Free South Africa is once again busy with its latest attempt at chipping away at our right to self preservation and defence. GFSA is currently trying to convince the government to legislate Firearm Free Zones at schools.

GFSA uses three examples as justification for the legislation:

“•On Monday 15 November 2010 the school’s Social Worker Rachel Maikabi was shot dead by her ex-boyfriend Itumeleng Dlamini who then shot and killed himself.
•Simon Mthimunye was shot and killed by a stray bullet while waiting to register his niece and nephew for social grants.
•On Tuesday 16 November 2010 Dlamini’s three friends arrived at the school with their guns, and barged into classrooms looking for Maikabi’s new lover. “

GFSA has of course immediately has jumped at the opportunity to make an emotive and widely unrealistic claim, that had Schools been FFZ the “terrible tragedy could have been prevented.

This claim is just another blatant lie by Natalie Jaynes and GFSA.

It is nothing short of delusion to expect that a criminal or unstable person, who had already prepared and planned to commit a serious crime, would somehow suddenly be deterred by seeing a FFZ sign up at some institution.

If that is GFSA’s line of thought, why not just ask the relevant minister to declare all schools Murder Free Zones ? It will certainly be just as effective!

What of course should be worrying is the fact that there are individuals and media who without so much as questioning these types of outlandish claims, accept them as gospel.

I put it to Ms Jaynes, that arguably the most sensible thing to do, would be to insist that every teacher in South Africa be armed at school and taught how to be proficient in handling a fire arm. This will be a far more effective measure in providing a safe environment of our children. Just because individuals are criminals, it doesn’t mean that they are stupid. Nobody likes to be out numbered once the playing fields are level in terms of firepower.

It would be interesting to hear Ms Jaynes explain how these tragedies could have been averted by the mere presence of a sign. Natalie, seeing that you do read the forum, please accept our invitation to either register and post a reply, or alternately mail your reply to us. It will be posted unedited. This is, I suspect a far more generous offer than you would afford us.

Natalie please leave the the most law abiding group of South Africans alone , no amount legislation is going to make any difference to the criminals, rather do something constructive like working to get a more effective legal system and a more efficient police force in place.

    Guys,

Last year I posted a full set of articles by an American Psychiatrist explaining in detail exactly what kind of psychosis is necessary to believe the gunfree lie. Search it.

All people going to and coming from the school will be advertised as unarmed and therfore soft targets.

GFSA needs to be stopped in this endeavour.

Time and time again the so called statistics and research proclaimed by GFSA have been proven to be the result of someones very overactive imagination and proven to be totally false.

Armed Teachers stop Terrorist Attack in Israel

A dramatic story can be found here:

Two Palestinian terrorists disguised in Israel Defense Forces (IDF) uniforms entered the study hall at Makor Haim High School in Kibbutz Kfar Etzion southeast of Jerusalem.

Al-Aksa Brigades: Assassinate Fayyad Armed with guns and knives, the terrorists managed to stab several students before armed school counselors arrived and shot them dead.

"The terrorists came inside and began stabbing the students," a defense official said.

"This could have ended much worse," said another in Central Command. . . .

Another version of the story is here:

In Gush Etzion, southeast of Jerusalem, two Palestinian gunmen wearing IDF uniforms burst into the Makor Haim yeshiva high school. Wielding guns and knives, they lightly injured two Israeli counselors before being shot dead.

The terrorists infiltrated Makor Haim, a kibbutz, sneaking into the main building of its high school seminary, run by world-renowned Talmudist, Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz. The terrorists entered a library room where seven of the boarding school's counselors were meeting. Dressed as security guards, and armed with a knife and what appeared to be a gun -- it later turned out to be a toy -- ordered the seven to line up on one side of the room. A counselor, realizing they were terrorists, drew his personal firearm and opened fire. Another grabbed the fake gun from the other terrorist, wrestled him to the floor, while the first counselor shot him. The terrorists managed to stab two of the counselors before falling dead.

Reminds me of the time the powers that be wanted to have a practical example of "Detente", so they had a display at the Pretoria zoo, containing a Lion & a Lamb, co-existing together in a cage.
Someone was astonished and asked how they managed to do this?
Came the reply: "It's easy, we just put in a new lamb every day!"

I like this sentiment, however, seeing the latest wave of teachers' strikes, and the calibre of people who are now teaching our children; arming them sounds less encouraging.
