    Default Which bullet for hunting?

    Hi guys

    I currently load 175gr Hornady Interlocks in my 7x57 for bushveld hunting.

    A friend suggested trying the 175gr Sierra Gameking.

    Looking at the technical data;
    Hornady Sierra
    SD 0.310 0.310
    BC 0.462 0.538

    Will the BC have any significance at bushveld ranges or should I rather be more concerned about bullet construction/ terminal performance?

    Thanks
    Kurly

    At a muzzle velocity of 2,500 fps there will be 0.2" difference at 200 yards, so I would not concern myself with the BC.

    Both the Hornady Interlock and the Sierra GameKing are good non-premium bullets, and should perform well at moderate velocity.

    If the Hornadys have been working for you I see no reason to change.

    Stick with the Hornady Interlocks and drive them at moderate velocities. Do you intend to use the Spire Point or Round Nose? Round nose will do very well in bushveld conditions, but has the BC of a brick

    Thanks guys

    I am not planning on changing but I have only ever reloaded the Spire point Hornady since I started reloading, so I have no experiences with other bullets apart from factory rounds that were only used to make holes in paper.

    That's why I decided to ask the question because at todays bullet prices it is not cheap to experiment.

    The hornady's have served me well in the field so have no complaints there
