Thread: Lionsteel SR-1

    Default Lionsteel SR-1

    Anyone tried one of these?

I've got one in bound from Molletta (the designer) It's a first production run and I'm excited to try it out?

Been down the Sebenza & Strider route - both have their pros & cons as I'm sure the SR-1 will have.

Wow - that's beautiful. I love that high grind and deep belly. And is that a hardened insert I see on the lock-face? We expect a thorough review and lashings of pictures when this baby arrives.........!! :-)

Thanks, hardened steel on the frame lock, rota lock (also works like hinderer lock) keeps frame locked in place, 1 piece milled handle. Very interesting knife!

will give you fellas a run down !

I have read great things about them. Wish I could afford one but have another custom on the way.....damn there are to many knives. Looking forward to your review.

Hey Khukman - I looked up the Sleipner steel that the blade is made of. This is the first time I have heard of it. Seems to be an imporved D2 of sorts. Please let us know how it handles and sharpens. I think we are so accustomed to US steels and US steel designations that we miss some of the hot new steels coming out of Europe.

First time I've heard of it too, I'm an INFI man myself and have never found a folder that is perfect for me. I struggle to sharpen S30V so I'm looking forward to trying this sleipner. Although D2 is even more of a pig than S30V each blade is different considering the heat treat etc. We'll see I guess.

    Great people to deal with!

Not going to hijack the thread but just for those that are interested the people that designed this particular knife have joined forces with ESEE knives.

These should be available in future for us. It is known as the DPX HEST folder.

As far as I know the guys in Italy are making this one as well.

Jip, because they have patent on the rotolock.

When I said this particular knife in my previous post I should have said SR-1.

ESEE and Lionsteel are doing the DPX HEST together.
