Ruger Gunsite Scout
See Ruger has brought out a new scout rifle.

I want to, but with a hogue overmould stock if available. The mag looks a bit long for 10 rounds. I wonder if these will be coming here?

Re: Ruger Gunsite Scout
Lots of money for a Ruger.
And why a single stack magazine? Doesn't make any sense.

Re: Ruger Gunsite Scout
Story on the single stack mag is that the Ruger uses controlled-round feed and the 'Arctic Warfare' double stack Accuracy International mags are not compatible with the CRF. (Push feed such as with the Rem. 700, yes...CRF no.) The Ruger thus uses their AICS (Accuracy International Chassis Syatem) single stacks.
AI because they say they found way too much variation with M14 type mags and, while they don't say so, the Ruger action is almost too small to handle them well. For sure the quality IS there with AI's gear, not to mention that as a bonus, mags should be more available for OCONUS shooters.
In the states the rifle should sell out-the-door for closer to $800 than the list price, and assuming you wanted the features offered there is no way you could have the work done on a standard rifle for anywhere near that end figure.
I don't plan on getting one myself, but in SA it just might be a nice 'jack of all trades, master of none' rifle and if imported I see some decent sales for it in SA and Oz as well.Run Fast, Bite Hard!

Me rikee velly muchee...
I have a soft spot for Rugers (prolly between my ears).
Price is a bit eina though, but maybe not so much if the mags are easy to source and reasonably priced.
Will suit the next generation of (fighting) anti-poaching patrols very nicely."Always remember to pillage before you burn"
