As a matter of interest, why a 100m zero?

As a matter of interest, why a 100m zero?
The whole course is structured around 100 as I see this as the point of having a rifle ie to create space between yourself & and any BG.
My thinking is that if you can hit from 100m then any closer should be a easier.
Ideally we would also practice from the 300 & 400m mark but do not have permission from the landowner to do so.
Would you prefer a closer or further zero, say 50m or 200m?Recent studies show that 1 out of every 3 liberals are just as dumb as the other 2

Re: B.I.R.T /Sports Adventure Shooting 15 January 2011
most of the guys are using bolt guns with scopes so 100m makes sense with calibres of 308 /30-06 /303. Guys with carbine kits such as ronis etc can zero at 50m. With 180gr in my 30 06, with 100m zero, Im on the money at 25m, 1,5 high at about 60m an at 100m on again 2 inch low at 150 4 inches at 200m.
