I would say the man spoke sense....

A 9x19 in high capacity design with decent FMJ ammo can and will do the trick.....premium Hollow Point Ammo will just increase the effectiveness by a small margin (and I will take that small margin).
I would not feel defenceless with a 8+1 45ACP with FMJ's but will surely prefer a 15+1 9x19 with FMJ's....
