The hunting season is on it's back.Well at least for most guys. I think I might be a small little bit more fortunate than most, as I "have to" hunt the whole year round. Obviously it's now only males, but still. You see, I did this to myself, as nobody forced me to open my own game meat butchery and biltong factory. This is a small bussiness as it has only one supplier - ME. No really, it is small. I only get to hunt twice in three weeks and then I'm limmeted to shooting two big animals like Kudu or Wildebees and say four or five Impala.(I thought I might get some of you to be jealous) Let me add a picture or two....HUNTING 033.jpgHUNTING 039.jpgHUNTING 041.jpg

Finally it was our turn to go hunting in the Thabazimbi area earlier in August. :)
I shot an impala ewe between 9 and 10 in the morning and on the way back to camp we stumbled across this handsome fella. When I saw him I just couldn't resist.
He was standing broadside at about 50 - 60m when I took the shot whereafter he ran for about 15 - 20m before going down.
The shot was taken with a Voere Kufstein .308 and 180gr PMP ProAmm.
In all the excitement (it was my first warthog) I forgot to take pictures and only after we got back to camp did it occur to me that there's something missing.
And the reason for him looking like he was involved in a bar fight was that by the time we got back, the other guy's impala we picked up had bled all over him.
Anyhoo, he dressed out at 38kg so I'm quite chuffed.

I have to agree. I enjoyed sneaking up on this hog waaaay more than the earlier impala.
In fact, I already decided that every hunting season is going to include at least one hog hunt.
(and of course, the salami, cabanossi etc. helps to sweeten the deal)
