Just a thought has this handloader tried and compared both propellants

I do not know what the extent of his testing was, but I know when I had the discussion with him that he compared the values in QuickLoad. He did mention, however, that he did load with one of the Enduron-series IMR propellants, and it certainly was not IMR 4451. So I'm not 100% sure about to what extent he did his testing.

Of course, empirical test data would give the most conclusive indication as to which propellant your rifle is happy with.

Thanks for the info, I ask because I also did a lot of research and using the 280 Rem specs (closest to the 7x64 on IMR reload site)for comparison, quickload and with help fro Dave Shears, Cassie, all fingers pointed to IMR4451 as the better product.

That's very interesting, since it was he who told me to rather go with IMR4955

Perhaps it might be to do with the fact that I was considering a different bullet. We discussed this around using the Norma Oryx 170 gr. You are looking at a lighter bullet, so that is maybe why IMR4451 would be better in your case (no pun intended).

Feast your eyes! My CZ Ebony in .30-06. The grouping was shot with Norma Oryx 180gr ammo, marvelous stuff. I don't know if the images will be good enough, had to significantly resize them to upload. I upgraded the trigger with a new Riflebasix trigger, it has made a tremendous difference.

    Time to revive this thread...

When I started it many years ago I had just bought my first rifle (the ZKK-601 in the first post) and I had great and noble aspirations about owning more ZKK's. In the intervening years I learnt that a -600 in 7x64 probably won't do anything much different to what my 308 already does. I once had a hot lead on a -602 in 375H&H but alas I was second in line...

Fast forward 11 almost 12 years, and my arsenal ever so slightly... I got another 308 (really taking away all good reasons to own that 7x64) but another Czech beauty as yet eluded me.

Until now: Recently arrived at my LGS after a very friendly occasional Gunsiter responded to my thread about looking for a nice 9.3x62. Licensing process should start imminently, just waiting for SAPS to formalize transfer to LGS's books.

My new-to-me (and relatively young, compared to my ZKK-601!) CZ550 in 9.3x62
