Did my bloody BP competency test this weekend, bit strange though. Even passed the practical....... Next step to hand in my application for BP competency at the SAPS and get my BP permit revised.

There is a list on the whitesmoke website of various people who are authorised to give the training.

The training covers BP, safety, loading, shooting.

Basically. You do an open book test, theory training,a closed book test, and a practical shoot.

Is it now a requirement to do this competency to get a BP weapon???

The way I understand it is that there is a grace period until 10 Jan 2012 at which time your competency application must be handed in. Only after Jan 2012 will you need a competency card to buy a BP firearm. BP cap&ball rewolvers is back on lisence
