Re: Why CCTV helps
Thanks for all the info Wormy - I installed my current set-up myself pretty easily, considering I am not too technically minded (However crawling around in the ceiling for a day is killer on your back). I hear you on the cheap stuff iro cameras - I learned the hard way..... Anyway I drove around a bit yesterday and actually found a pretty cool place in Bruma which stocks just about everything I will need. Will check out the Blue Led IR thingy.

Re: Why CCTV helps
Do any of you use wireless IP cameras? I am considering this for my installation.

Re: Why CCTV helps
Wired is better, We done a wifi CCTV kit on a farm hooked to tractors and specif points. All IP using Axiz http://www.axis.com/products/cam_211w/
However this is not cheap. We got 2.4Ghz Dipoles for the camera's hooked to the back of 5Ghz Hauls on grids. Cost of the network is about 35k and the cameras around 1500 each excluding the rest of the kit guy paid just over 100K but we talking around 3/4Km haul and around 20 plus cameras on the property and 4 on vehicles.
Cable in a small home is better. Even in Larger areas we rather go Fiber for camera's than wifi to many variables.I hack for charity, Shoot for fun!

Re: Why CCTV helps
I have a mix of wired and wireless IP camera's.
Where I could only get power there is wireless, where I could run a cable there is a PoE camera. Only 2 are wireless.
I do have 2x access points to make the coverage 100%.
You need mega pixel quality for court, mine are just there so I don't have to walk around the house investigating noises.
