7 year old's take on gunfree zones
You have to love the honest clear thinking of kids, sometimes their comprehension astounds me! Just a short bit of background... Early March I finally get my license card for SD, so two days later I start my EDC journey. My son notice me adding my handgun to my everyday wardrobe, so we cover the reasons why I do it and the safety aspects as any responsible parent should do. I satisfy his curiosity with regards to why it's okay to have a gun by your side at all times.
So on Sunday the 3rd of April my wife politely suggest that we have to meet one of her old girl friends for brunch... At... Monte Casino!! Welcome to Monte, this area is a Gun-Free zone... Makes my skin crawl just thinking about it! Anyway I decline the opportunity for a temper tantrum and go along armed only with my with and warrior spirit!
As I get waved down with the metal detecting wand, I see my boy is pondering the situation. This leads into the discussion of why? So now I have to carefully explain the concept of Gun-free zones.
After I explained all, I could clearly see that something is greatly troubling his young mind.I allowed him time to think it over... Then out of nowhere he formulates his own conclusion...:" But what then, when the Bad Guys come? Would this not be an easy place for them to attack?"
I just smiled and said that I think he must ask this question to GFSA.

Just goes to show how some people, such as your little one, gets more intelligent with time. However, on the other hand, GFSA just gets more DUMB as time goes by.

Hold on guys, were still trying to teach the good ol' folks at gfsa to count to five. Cannot expect them to be able to follow the reasoning of a 7 year old. Babysteps.
Well done lad, we need more like you!

Actually... this doesn't surprise me at all.
It's only us adults who have been brainwashed into suspending our disbelief so that we can make some kind of sense of this and MANY other completely irrational rules that society forces on us. To a fresh mind day can never be night, and night can never be day."Always remember to pillage before you burn"
