This my be a bit late: I have read through all the posts. I am an ex-recce member. You cannot equate STF with recces - different operational goals and application. Recces are not allowed to be used within SA's borders but can support the STF and SAPS. On the Selous Scouts matter: Recces were operating for a long time with the Rhodesian forces and a lot of this info was passed onto the recces. With UDI in 1980, a lot of Rhodesian forces personnel came south and joined the SADF. I have worked with a lot of them and they are excellent soldiers. There are a lot of books being written by Recce members who tell their side of the story, read them and then make an educated opinion. The recce's have crossed trained with a lot of SF units in the past.

    Cheers

Castos: Sorry if i seem like an idiot. I seen only one book by an ex-recce. If you could point me to more would be awesome.

Phant1m: Greater Share of the Honour by Jack Greef; Iron fist from the Sea - do not know if it is out; We fear naught but God by Paul Els; Special Forces "Jam Stealer@ by Peet Coetzee (has a number of other books as well); Journey without Boundaries by Andre Diedericks; then some books by Peter Stiff which I will not recommend or read. A lot of other members books will becoming out shortly.

    Cheers

Some of his books start of with facts and then it is a thumb suck. I do not have any of his books and will never buy them. One of the guys that he mentioned and told a story about made a case against him.

Let me put it this way... in some circles he is referred to as "that Stiff prick..."

It depends on who tells him which story. In some instances he has taken the stories told to him with no critique and little substantiating evidence and related those stories as fact... where that is not the case at all.

They make for good reading though, but view them as 'faction'.
