    Default My latest problem

I have been offered a Buffalo hunt late in the year and don't really have something suitable for it.

All I have is a 45-70 Marlin that I could load up, do Rhino still make a solid that will work in the 45-70?
Is the 360gr offering from them a little too soft for Buffalo?

I guess loaning a rifle is impossible so I need to make this work for me?

Hi Shark, please note that I have sent you a number of private messages which you seem not to have received. Would appreciate it if you would check your mail and respond.

Go and have a look at the Barnes website. They have a banded solid in 330gr and a Barnes Buster of 400gr especially for lever actions against heavy quarry. They also have reloading suggestions and you need to relate the powders to ours. (look at burning rates on GScustom website)

You could also try OPM and Stewart bullets locally. Frontier might also not be a bad bet.

I'd recommend GS Custom or Stewart as two of the best bullets on the market.

A number of buff have been taken with the 45-70 Govt. I suggest you speak to Mauritz Coetzee, Safari & Outdoor in Pta. He knows the calibre extremely well and has assisted others with loads for Buff in the 45-70.
He is best who is trained in the severest school! Fear no man.

Contact Rhino bullets. They will be able to assist. As Ross said, Mauritz will be able to give advice. A local with the name Mark Goosen shot a buff with the combination you mentioned - you know him/of him?
